Halloween Party

Parent volunteers are asked to purchase a ticket. Student volunteers in grades 7 to 12 will be provided with a ticket, which includes their meal and drinks.

Grade 3 volunteers from We Scare Hunger will be volunteering for the first 15 to 30 mins of the event to collect items for the food bank. We kindly ask that parents purchase a ticket for these children.

No. We will have a print out of everyone who has purchased tickets. If you can see your order for Halloween tickets in your My Account -> ORDERS tab -> you're on our list!

The Halloween Howl is intended for children under 12. Older students are welcome to come and volunteer. Their ticket will be paid for. Younger siblings are welcome, as well as parents, grandparents or nannys.

Yes, any children coming to the event with their family that are two years and under do not need a ticket purchased.

Everything is included! Games, DJ dance party, bouncy castles, haunted house—tonnes of fun activities designed for ages 12 and under. Pizza and refreshments are also included in the ticket price, and gluten-free options are available with an add-on fee.

The pizza is from Pizza 73 for the Halloween Howl. Here is the companies list of allergens from their website. They do not list their pizzas under the peanut or tree nut categories.

New Family Applications

Where do I find my Submission ID Number?

After submitting the online questionaire, you will receive a confirmation email containing your Submission ID Number.

Re-enrollment

I've completed the online re-enrollment form and have paid my deposit - am I really done?

If you didn't apply to enroll new siblings of existing CFIS students - Yes, you are! Re-enrollment for 2013/14 has been streamlined and only includes information we really need to know at this point. You will be asked to review/update your demographic information at a later time. In general though, any time you have a change of mailing address, or phone number, or Email address it's pertinent that you inform us immediately so that we can update our records.

If you did apply to enroll new siblings of existing CFIS students - There is one more step: we will Email you an application form for the new sibling. The application form + $100/student application fee are due by end of school (3:25pm) on Nov. 30, 2012. Reason this is a paper form is that new applications require real signatures and additional documentation like eg birth certificate must be attached.

The 2am, 3am and 5pm programs are no longer being offered as options. Experience has shown us that children learning a second language are more succesful with conisistent (daily) programming and that they are at their best in the morning.

Pedagogical questions

  • Children entering preschool must be 3 years of age and toilet trained prior to beginning school.
  • Children entering junior kindergarten must be 4 years of age by March 1st of their junior kindergarten year.
  • Children entering kindergarten must be 5 by March 1st of their kindergarten year.

Even with these guidelines, placement decisions are made on a case by case basis. However, children will not be accepted in kindergarten if they are younger than the cut-off date.

Admission questions

If you have a child currently enrolled at CFIS, younger siblings will receive priority consideration for admission.  Siblings will participate in the same admission process as new students, to ensure proper classroom placement.

The kindergarten/grade 1 observation will be conducted without the parents in a group setting.  The admission team will document and observe children's social interactions, communication skills and early academic skills, as well as fine and gross motor skills. Each child will also complete a one-on-one assessment task to help determine appropriate placement. The observation is only one factor in the admission process.

An observation of a 3 year old or 4 year old would consist of a parent and child participating in play based activities in a group setting for a short period of time.  The Early Childhood admisson team will observe and document children's social interactions, fine and gross motor skills and preacademic skills according to their children's ages. This information will then be used to help with admission and placement decisions. The observation is only one factor in the admission process.

No special preparation is required.  On the day of the observation, your child should come in comfortable clothes, ready to play with new friends.

Until we are have received enrollment from our current families we are unable to confirm the number of openings for next year.

Once you have successfully downloaded and printed off the Student Mealticket Sheet, it is your child's responsibility to keep it in a safe place (in a clear plastic bag in their locker or backpack).  It is not required to hand this form into to the teacher, unless otherwise stated by the teacher.  This Mealticket must be presented each time your child has ordered lunch at the cafeteria (including Pizza Day lunch).  If you are unsure as to how to download and print off your Mealticket sheet please refer to the FAQ's. Also - you can re-print the Student Mealticket any time your child needs a new one.

First you must be logged into your CFIS account.  Click on "My account" at the top.  Click on "ORDERS" at the far right.  Click on the order number that you would like to download the Student MealTicket for.  When you have done that, you will find the link (right below the billing information) that reads "Download Student MealTicket for this order:...".

Do I need to print something for the full year Milk Program?

No, you do not need to print off anything if you've ordered a full year Milk Program. You only need to print a Student Mealticket if you ordered from the Lunch Program (and this will include your à la carte milk/choc milk/soy milk choices).

Is online ordering secure?

Info submitted through secure.cfis.com is secure. We use the latest encryption technology, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), to insure that no one can intercept the information you submit. Some older browsers may complain that the SSL certificate is not valid - upgrading to the newest version will solve that problem.

Credit card data are processed by IATSpayments, based in Vancouver. IATS provides transaction processing to over 9,000 nonprofit organizations in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

We do not store your credit card information on secure.cfis.com - and when CFIS staff/admin is in the IATSpayments account they only see the first + last 4 digits of your credit card, e.g.: 4***********3925

Can I pay for multiple children at once?

Every order is to be paid for in full before you can generate a new order for another child. One of the main goals of putting The Seed Cafeteria ordering online was to ensure that human ordering/accounting errors are practically eliminated. Paying per order helps to ensure that every Student Mealticket is accurate and fully paid for.  On average it will take you less then one minute to place and pay for an order.

What will I see on my credit card statement?

Charges on your credit card statement will be from: CALGARYFRENCH&INTL. You will find one transaction for each payment. If you order for more than one child your transaction amounts can be very similar.

Do I pay transaction costs if I pay by credit card?

The costs associated with the processing of credit cards on secure.cfis.com are paid by CFIS.

What is the security code?

Using VISA or MC these are the three digits on the back of your card (in the signature strip). If you are using AMEX these are the 4 digits on the front of your card.

Can I pay by cheque?

All orders need to be paid online by credit card at the moment the order is processed and the Student Mealticket can be generated. We are however working with our merchant provider and IT consultants to add a direct debit payment option possibly as soon as Nov. 2012.

Can I order from my phone?

You bet. It was tested on both iPhone and iPad.

What browser do I need to use the online ordering?

This site will work well with the latest versions of any of the common browser, including Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer.
